Max Frisch (1911 – 1991) was a Swiss playwright and novelist. Frisch’s works focused on problems of identity, morality, individuality, responsibility and political commitment The Chinese Wall (Die Chinesische Mauer) which appeared in 1946, explored the possibility that humanity might itself be eradicated by the (then recently invented) atomic bomb and unleashed a lively public discussion of the issues involved in the post-atomic world.
